History of Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zukerberg.

Mark Zuckerberg is the co-founder and CEO of Facebook, a social media company whose current flagship product is Messenger. He has been named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year three times. The youngest person to be named World’s Best Reseller (2017).

In addition to his professional success, he also founded two non-profits under public pressure — Open For Everyone and Fix our broken media (F2P). He created Facebook to provide children in need with technology that can help them in their everyday lives and to connect people through computers. When it became one of the most successful social media companies in the world, its headcount topped 100 employees. A total of 10 million new users joined Facebook over the previous 2 years, as Facebook made more money than any other social media site in the business. In 2017, Facebook was ranked #1 by Fortune magazine. At the end of 2018, it had raised $3 billion, giving it about an 85% market share in the US.

CEO OF FACEBOOK

Currently, Facebook is facing legal battles regarding privacy infringement, data breaches, fraud, hate speech, and violations of law concerning how it uses algorithms in decision-making. All of these issues are very important to Facebook, which recently announced breaking away from Instagram after being accused of using algorithms to promote racist. The company will continue to fight against misinformation on its platform so long as this issue remains unresolved.

As an engineer at Google, I worked on tools used to improve the search experience like RankBrain and PageRank, but as lead developer at Stanford Engineering, my focus shifted to developing tools for organizations’ content creation. Many projects in Silicon Valley focused on artificial intelligence (AI) based products and services and we developed solutions such as Tensorflow, DeepCloud AI, Natural Language Processing, Dialogflow, Web scraping, Machine Learning based APIs. We were able to use deep learning, neural networks, and reinforcement learning to create new applications that solve some of today’s problems in research, health care, security, insurance, and many others. Our team also worked on products such as Pinterest and Gmail, which were used to deliver information to web pages and also generate email addresses. My team also worked on systems for managing files and folders across devices. Finally, I worked on applications for visual computing and augmented reality. From these different areas in software engineering, I learned a lot of skills such as programming languages like Python, SQL, HTML, and CSS, designing complex user interfaces, designing databases, testing, analyzing, and communicating with audiences, implementing analytics solutions, building experiments, optimizing machine learning models, and many other techniques.

This summer I started working on Focused Teams as VP of Research at GCP. Working with teams such as Microsoft, Walmart, Sony, eBay, Apple, Yahoo!, Disney, Netflix, LinkedIn, Sberbank, Philips, Lyft, Comcast, Intel, Verizon, Salesforce, Nuro, Inc., Uber, Daimler, General Motors, KPMG, PwC, Viacom, Unilever, Amazon, Twitter, Yelp, UberMedia, Google, Cisco, and IBM. I am excited because I see more opportunities where we can grow our company. These experiences have helped me learn a lot about leadership and communication, especially when it comes to dealing with large global corporate brands and teams. Most importantly, these experiences have taught me how leaders should communicate clearly and precisely when they talk with their followers, especially if there are multiple stakeholders involved. This is useful in business and even life. By listening, observing, and speaking with our audience, companies like Oracle, Apple, Walmart, and Amazon have received positive results from what we have done. As the leader in advertising and digital marketing agency at McKinsey & Co., we understand all stakeholders have their own unique needs and we are constantly improving each of our business's systems. However, as part of our job we also work with Fortune 500 companies that provide funding for various projects around our industry. To know and understand a diverse group of leaders and then make sure we represent the right image in all of our communications, is something that makes me proud of my contribution to the industry. We have received over $3 billion since 2010 and we strive to be on the top not only in terms of our sales but also in meeting our goals.
